Hello y'all! 👋
Reflecting on recent events, we all know the stress and excitement that come with preparing and delivering each presentation. The time spent in planning, rehearsing, and finally speaking can be intense, but it's always rewarding. These talks are more than just presentations; they're a chance to learn, share, and connect.
Quick recap
In previous posts, we mentioned MunichJS where Jörn held a session about different use cases of WebRTC and showed Flottform.io to the community.
Even though he held the last of three talks, the storytelling approach seemed to work out. A few people laughed while following Jörn's story of growing up, using just a single picture of himself and adding CSS to it.
During the demo, Jörn almost had a heart-attack since a member of the audience hijacked the QR code and sent a picture of their … shoes. Phew! In the end, it was actually quite impressive to see how easy it was to share data with someone else. It basically showed that the current state is already working pretty well, even when one machine is behind a mobile hotspot and another one inside of a hotel wifi - even without having a TURN server in our prototype.
Besides this live presentation, Jörn also gave an online presentation at VirtualCoffee Lightning talks. The biggest challenge was that this talk was only one week after the MunichJS Meetup and it had to be much shorter: 10 minutes instead of 35. This means another round of adjusting and rehearsing the presentation. The best part about this event: it was recorded and you can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzLXQYZpOPU&t=1528s

What's coming up next?
In November 2023 we went to the Bayerwald Hackathon where we built the very first prototype of Flottform. It was a perfect time to sit together and work on our product. Now the next iteration of the hackathon is coming up and we feel that this is a great opportunity to focus on Flottform again and develop it further. This time our main task for us is to set up a TURN server and improve the overall code quality.
But the Bayerwald Hackathon is not the only event coming up. We've mentioned the JSCraftCamp before, but we don't want to miss the opportunity to highlight it again. JSCraftCamp is a participant-driven unconference where attendees create the schedule and lead discussions, making it a truly community-driven experience. We highly recommend that you register and go to learn about JavaScript and connect with a lot of highly skilled developers. And don't forget to chat with us to get even more insights into Flottform!
